Wondering if a rainy North Cascades wedding is just as incredible as a sunny one (hint – the answer is yes!)? Jordan and Erin got all kinds of weather for their wedding in the mountains, but these two only cared about one thing – getting married! Keep scrolling to see more from this amazing North Cascades wedding and learn three things to consider when planning a wedding in the North Cascades.
Meet the Couple of this North Cascades Wedding
From the moment I connected with Jordan and Erin, I could tell that these two have hearts of gold. Leading up to their special day, there were wildfires in Washington. But not just that, there was also rain forecasted on their special day. So much of mother nature was happening all around us, but these two were as steady as could be. All they cared about was getting married, so no matter what, it was going to be an amazing day! Sure enough, when their wedding day rolled around, there was rain in the forecast and we had to change plans, but we were prepared and Jordan and Erin couldn’t be happier.
We started the day at their cabin, with a first look, and that’s when the rain started. The couple had told me that they really wanted to hike for their wedding. Even though it was windy and rainy, they said “Let’s freaking do it. It’s part of the experience.” So, we (family and all) packed our bags and started the hike. We stopped for an amazing ceremony in the rain with views of a waterfall and an alpine lake behind them. From there, we headed to a picnic area where they had fresh paella made for them on-site (YUM). We ended the day with another alpine lake hike where the couple shared hot chocolate and their first dance together in the rain. It was such a sweet moment, and my eyes are getting teary eyed all over again just thinking about it.
Day two of Jordan and Erin’s North Cascades wedding rolled around and it was just as incredible as day one! We hiked Artist Point at sunset for more photos (Jordan and Erin had chosen different outfits for day two which you can see in the photos) and we all had so much fun! Because we had already spent the day before together, we were all that much more comfortable with each other. Jordan and Erin were so immersed in the moment and in the surrounding mountains, that they truly couldn’t be happier. We stayed out past sunset and got to witness the most beautiful colors cascading (pun intended) over the mountains.

Three Things to Consider When Planning a North Cascades Wedding
So, you’re having a North Cascades wedding (first off, YAY!). If you are planning on getting married in the North Cascades, here are three things to keep in mind.
Ceremony Location
Your ceremony location is one of the biggest choices you will make when planning a North Cascades wedding. Once you’ve decided on a guest list, you’ll want to think about any accessibility limitations. You’ll also want to think about how many guests you are inviting and whether the area is big enough to hold everyone without causing damage to the trails and foliage.
The good news is that in the North Cascades, there are so many options for drive-up locations and locations with short hikes (more like a walk, if we’re being specific) that also allow you to stay on the trail and practice leave no trace principles. And, if you’re wondering which locations you can choose from, yes, we have a whole list that we can’t wait to share with you!
Reception Location
What’s a North Cascades wedding without a wedding reception or celebration meal? If you are planning on hosting a meal for your guests, you’ll want to be sure to find a location that allows cake, champagne, or other types of food. Within the North Cascades, there are lots of cabins that will allow wedding receptions (we know a reallyyy great one called Stay Between the Pine). There are also campgrounds and day-use areas (which is what Jordan and Erin chose for their North Cascades wedding reception).
Lodging for your Guests
The last thing to consider is whether or not you and your guests will need lodging. If so, do you want a cabin that can house everyone together or, would you rather have cabins that are in the same general area (this is giving adult summer camp vibes)? The great thing about the North Cascades is that there are larger cabins that can sleep up to 15 people! As local North Cascades wedding photographers, we have relationships with many of the hosts who allow celebrations at the cabin. If you plan to invite more than 15 guests, keep in mind that you may need to find a venue for the reception, as not all cabins can accommodate a large number of guests.
