Driving to this family session, the skies were blue and only a few clouds hung in the sky as the sun peered through the pines. But then, about five minutes out from where we were meeting, the skies darkened and rain began to fall. By the time I arrived at the location for the photos, the rain was clearly not going anywhere anytime soon. Jess hopped out of their 4runner and we talked through if we should reschedule the shoot or not. We decided on trying to take a few photos and doing another session if needed because even with the rain, I promised her that rain makes the perfect lighting. Thirty minutes of playing in the rain later, I was literally jumping with excitement over these photos. This was a true adventure family photo shoot that involved mini donuts for bribery for the boys and the sweetest golden retriever named Wrangler.

As I edited these photos I couldn’t help but catch myself feeling the joy this family radiates. Their love for one another is evident, and uhhh can we talk about how cute Bo and Knox are?! And their outfits?! I mean, I think it’s safe to say I am the official Gillis fan girl.
