Meet Aly & Justin: The Couple of This Colorful Crook Point Elopement

Photographing couples on their best day ever is one of our favorite things to do, but when that couple also happens to be another elopement photographer, it is even MORE of an honor to know that they trusted us enough to document their special day. Cue Aly and Justin – an outdoorsy and adventurous couple who described themselves to me (Mollie) as a couple with “passions that probably make their moms a little nervous” (ie – rock climbing, skiing/snowboarding, and anything around water).

When they first reached out to me Aly and Justin already had a pretty good idea of what they wanted their Crook Point elopement day to look like. They loved the Southern Oregon Coast area because, not only was it close to the ocean, but it also provided easy access to the Redwood forests (the best of both worlds if you ask me). One of the things that was most important to them was being able to include their two golden retriever pups (you know we LOVE pup guests at elopements!) and needless to say, I was pretty excited to meet not just the couple, but also their pups of honor.

Aly and Justin’s Crook Point elopement day started off at sunrise in a foggy meadow nestled above the Oregon Coast. Something about the way the fog rolled over the hills was seriously MAGIC making for the perfect way to kick off this Oregon Coast elopement. After the couple’s first look, we ran around the hillside and had a total Sound of Music moment before heading to the Redwoods to meet up with their family for a morning hike through the forest. After the hike Justin made chocolate chip pancakes on a camp stove for the whole family (talk about unique details and adventurous experiences!).

After an afternoon nap, I met back up with the couple for a celebratory meal (again made by Justin) and we all enjoyed a delicious reception dinner overlooking the ocean below! After we all finished eating, Aly, Justin and their guests all headed over to the cliffs where the couple exchanged vows with a beautiful sunset view overlooking the ocean as their backdrop. Once their ceremony had finished, we took some couple photos on the cliffs (with their two dogs, of course) and then headed down to join the rest of their family on the beach for a bonfire and some brews. A perfect ending to a perfect day!

Best Time to Elope at Crook Point

When planning an Oregon Coast elopement, one of the first questions I hear is “when is the best time to plan an elopement?”. Weather in the PNW can oftentimes be unpredictable, and while eloping on the coast can provide a little more flexibility, I always recommend couples elope between the months of May and October. During these months you’ll not only get to witness the Oregon Coast during its sunniest seasons, but you’ll also have a better chance of seeing the gorgeous wildflowers that are in bloom during the late spring/early summer months. In fact, when planning their elopement at Crook Point, Aly wanted their day to be filled with flowers and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the wildflowers would be in peak bloom during their special day!

What You Need to Know About Packages For Your Crook Point Elopement

When choosing to have a Crook Point elopement, we highly recommend two elopement packages to our couples – sunrise to sunset or a two-day elopement.

Our sunrise-to-sunset package is one of our most popular elopement packages booked by our couples and here’s why: when booking a sunrise-to-sunset elopement, you are going to have golden hour and blue hour at BOTH sunrise and sunset! This means you will get the best light on your day (twice!!) and experience multiple locations like the Redwoods and the coast.

If you want a little extra time at these locations or are planning to have a celebration with guests, then a two-day elopement is a great way to go! With a two-day elopement package, you can still get the best light at both sunrise and sunset and be able to spend time celebrating with your loved ones or planning additional activities to allow you to fully celebrate your new marriage.
