More about Between the Pine »

Since 2018, I’ve photographed over 150 adventure elopements and weddings, including countless in incredible state of Hawaii. My work has been featured in The Knot, Green Wedding Shoes, and PNWonderland, and I also won Junebug’s 2019 Elopement of the Year.

After capturing so many elopements, I know the ins and outs of working in Hawaii. I know the best places to get shave ice, where to swim with sea turtles, the ultimate locations to watch the sunrise and sunset, plus which island is best suited for your dream day! Drew and I went on our honeymoon here back in 2016 and have been coming back ever since. The diverse island landscapes, rich Hawaiian culture, and endless adventure keeps pulling us back to this gorgeous state.

I’m Mollie: adventure wedding and elopement photographer, founder of Between the Pine, hiking fanatic, and snack queen (just ask any of my couples about my famous homemade chocolate-chip cookies).

Hawaii, in a nutshell

Why you should get married in Hawaii

  • Book a sunset boat cruise and sail along the Napali Coast to view these striking mountains covered in lush greenery. Enjoy snacks and drinks, while sailing into the sunset alongside the tallest sea cliffs in the world.
  • Rent a Jeep and explore the Road to Hana! There are so many incredible places to stop along this 64 mile stretch of highway. Enjoy views of waterfalls, overlook surfers off the coast, hike through forests and to mountain peaks, explore arboretums and feel the white sand on your feet at many of the gorgeous beaches during your road trip!
  • Explore Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island! Thick ferns mark the entrance and as you drive through, you'll see roads that weave over lava from the two active volcanoes in the park! Take a hike, book a wilderness adventure or enjoy a scenic drive through this unique national park!
  • Located on the island of Maui, Haleakalā National Park is home to many endangered species of birds and a dormant volcano! Climb to the top of one of the craters and enjoy the sunset with your partner!

And if you choose to stay in the area for your honeymoon, we’ve got recommendations on what to see and do, like:

  • Beaches: All the islands that make up Hawaii are surrounded by stunning picturesque beaches and range in color from black to red. You’ll find jaw dropping views of mountains, cliffsides, crystal clear water and the most incredible sunsets you will ever witness here.
  • Mountains: Hike to the top of dormant volcanoes or through lush forests that summit some of the most beautiful mountain peaks in the world and take in views as far as the eye can see. You can also view these stunning rock formations from the sky or by boat along the coast.
  • Rainforest: Much of Kauai is covered in lush rainforests and is nicknamed “the Garden Isle”. You’ll find a vast variety of plants and animals, with monsteras hanging from the trees and ferns covering the forest floors with pockets of orchids popping through.
  • Canyons: On Kauai you'll find the Grand Canyon of the Pacific and man is it stunning. Unlike the Grand Canyon in the contiguous United States, the canyons in Hawaii are covered in lush greenery and vary in color due to the red soil!
  • Waterfalls: Hawaii is home to some of the most breathtaking waterfalls in the world. Hike to the base and swim in the pool below or take a helicopter tour and see all these stunning natural formations from the sky!

When you plan your adventure elopement in Hawaii, we’ll help you find gorgeous places to stay near:

Hike to the summit, sail the coast or take a helicopter ride to see these beautiful formations in all their glory. These stunning mountains would make the perfect backdrop for your adventure wedding!
