Meet Kelsey & Laura: The Couple of This Olympic National Park Wedding

Kelsey and Laura are two of the most incredible people that Drew and I (Mollie) have the honor of calling friends. They met in Nashville and now have a home in Seattle with views of the Olympic mountains, so it was only fitting that they got married in Olympic National Park. (Oh, but before we get to that I just have to share their cutest surprise proposal I shot last year).

Kelsey and Laura’s day started off at their forest cabin located at the base of Olympic National Park. The brides got ready side-by-side before heading off to their forest wedding ceremony with family, friends, and the cutest flower girl. After the ceremony, everyone headed back to the cabin for a celebratory meal on the deck complete with s’mores (made with homemade marshmallows and yes, they are as good as they sound).

At sunset, the three of us headed up to the mountains for their Olympic National Park wedding photos and had to literally run to catch the light for sunset. The magic didn’t end there though, because the next day we ventured out to the coast with their pups for more photos and had the best time running through the ocean and soaking in the beauty all around us.

Kelsey and Laura’s Olympic National Park wedding was filled with so much intentionality and love. The brides were present throughout both days and just soaked up every second of their experience, which is one of the coolest things to witness as an elopement photographer.

One of the things I especially loved about Kelsey and Laura’s Olympic National Park wedding was that these two prioritized their elopement experience above everything else. They invested in the things that mattered to them and their experience (like their beautifully catered meal from Table Catering Co. and stunning florals from Goldenrod Floral Design). From the very beginning we worked together to find the best vendors (with the help of The Greatest Adventure Weddings, of course) as well some different trail and ceremony locations that allowed these two to have the elopement of their dreams!

Four Reasons to Get Married at Olympic National Park

You Get the Best of Both Worlds

In the words of Hannah Montana, “You get the best of both worlds” when choosing to have an Olympic National Park wedding! Mountains AND ocean? Yes, please. But that’s not all this park has to offer. The Olympics also have rainforests, waterfalls, and alpine lakes giving you endless options to choose from your best day ever!

Year-Round Accessibility

One of the things we love about Olympic National Park is that the park is accessible year-round. Unlike trails in Mount Rainier or the North Cascades which close during the winter months due to snow, places in Olympic National Park are open year-round. Because of the diverse landscapes to choose from and lower elevation in the park overall, you aren’t limited to having an elopement during the summer months only, making this a great location for weddings and elopements at any time of year.

Backup Location Options

If we sound like a broken record it’s because we’re not kidding when we say that Olympic National Park is full of different landscapes. On top of providing endless locations for you to explore on your wedding day, these landscapes also give you plenty of backup options to explore whether rain or shine. Even if Mother Nature throws a curve ball on your Olympic National Park wedding day, you can rest assured knowing there is so much more to explore.

A Great Place to Honeymoon

Once you experience the magic of Olympic National Park yourself, you may never want to leave. We’ve had several couples decide to plan their honeymoon in Olympic National Park after getting married there and it’s the perfect place to spend a week (or more) exploring and celebrating your new marriage. Plus, being located near the water, it allows for easy access to the many ferries departing from the Olympic Peninsula. Ferry trip to Victoria BC, anyone?

Where to Have Your Olympic National Park Wedding

Deciding where to have your Olympic National Park wedding ceremony is one of the most fun parts of planning your special day. Olympic National Park is one of our favorite places to get married in Washington because this area has so many different landscapes. The options for where to get married are seriously endless!

When it comes to wedding locations, we highly recommend having your ceremony either lakeside at Lake Crescent, on a rugged beach, in the mountains, or in the forest (note – forest wedding ceremonies are best held during midday to protect you from the weather and allow for even lighting for photos).

Based on how many people you plan to invite, the locations to choose from for your Olympic National Park wedding will vary, but we here at Between the Pine will be right there with you planning your wedding!

The Best Olympic National Park Wedding Packages

When choosing to have an Olympic National Park wedding, we highly recommend three elopement packages to our couples – full-day, sunrise to sunset, or two-day.

In order to fully explore two different areas (forest, lake, ocean, waterfalls, or mountains) our full-day package is the perfect choice. It includes first-look photos at your cabin in the early afternoon before we will then head out to two unique locations for you and your partner to explore. After, we will head to your ceremony location, where you will elope in the mountains with the most stunning backdrop at sunset!

The second elopement package option is our sunrise-to-sunset package. This is one of our most popular elopement packages booked by our couples and here’s why: when booking a sunrise to sunset elopement, you will have golden hour and blue hour at BOTH sunrise and sunset! This means you are going to get the best light on your day (twice!!) and get to experience multiple locations.

And, if you’re not quite ready for the experience to end, our two-day elopement package allows you to experience 3 areas while still getting the best light on your day. Click here to learn more about our packages for your Olympic National Park wedding.
