Epic Spring Maui Elopement

Written by our rad team member, Kiersten Roy

This Maui elopement with Ashley and Evann was probably one of my all-time favorite elopements to photograph! Not only did we get to visit Maui, one of Hawaii’s most beautiful islands, but Ashley and Evann also got to experience some of the most perfect weather while celebrating a truly epic elopement day with a few of their closest friends. (Yes, dreams really do come true). Keep scrolling to see more from this adventurous Maui elopement and learn a few of our favorite elopement locations to explore on this magical island!

Meet Ashley & Evann: The Couple of This Adventurous Maui Elopement

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Ashley and Evann decided to plan a destination elopement and tie the knot on the beautiful Hawaiian islands with their closest friends. Their Maui elopement day started out with a hike in the Maui mountains with the most perfect weather! Even though the day started out moody and cloudy, it was still a warm 75 degrees (which for those of us from Seattle feels like heaven!). At one point during the day we even got a little chilly which made us laugh because it almost felt like Seattle in a way.

After our daytime hike in the mountains (which is also when Ashley and Evann did their first look), we took a little break before meeting back up at the couple’s Airbnb where Ashley got her hair and makeup done while Evann lounged in the pool drinking Mai Tais. Once everyone had finished getting ready, we headed off to an incredible rainforest where we spent a little bit of time swooning over the trails and all the natural beauty around us. We finally made our way over to the ocean (you can’t go to Hawaii without visiting the beach, am I right?!). There, on the beach, Ashley and Evann had a traditional Hawaiian ceremony before ending the day with the two of them running into the ocean at sunset.

Four Places to Explore for Your Maui Elopement

Want to know our top pics for places to explore for your Maui elopement? Don’t worry, I’ve gotcha covered! These are a few of some of the island’s “can’t miss” sceneries!

West Maui Mountains

First up is the West Maui Mountains. While Hawaii may be better known for its beaches, the mountain ranges on these islands are simply incredible! In a way, the West Maui Mountains almost remind me of Washington because of all the lush greenery, ferns, and beauty surrounding them. Of course, they offer stunning mountain views, but they also have so much other scenery to offer such as rugged coastline, cascading waterfalls, and local villages scattered all throughout. Driving through the mountains (whether on a Jeep tour or own your own) is a great way to experience these mountains, but, if you’re looking for a truly adventurous Maui elopement adventure, a helicopter ride will allow you to experience some of the most stunning views that are only accessible by air.

The Beach (obviously)

This Maui elopement location list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning a few of the incredible beaches on this island! In Maui you have so many beaches to explore from sandy beaches (white, red, or black) to ocean cliffsides to beaches with sea turtles lounging all around. There are beaches with endless golden sand as far as your eyes can see and beaches with mountains rising in the background. You really have so many options when it comes to beaches for your Maui elopement.

The Rainforest

Not only does Maui have incredible mountain ranges and beaches, but it is also covered with rainforests! While this means the island can get quite a bit of rain, there is nothing quite like exploring just the dense trees and all that it has to offer. Plus, with all that rain also comes streams that continue to flow even throughout the dry months which flow into waterfalls rushing down the mountainside. Exploring these rainforests and all the lush greenery it provided was one of my absolute favorite parts of Ashley and Evann’s Maui elopement day.

Haleakalā National Park

One of the most incredible places for a sunrise Maui elopement is Haleakalā National Park, home to Haleakalā Crater. This dormant volcano (which can be seen from almost any point on the island) is located on the east side of Maui and is a seriously stunning elopement location! Not only is the mountain itself incredible to witness, but oftentimes you can even see cloud inversions there too which makes for really dreamy and dramatic photos.

How to Choose a Maui Elopement Package

When choosing to have a Maui elopement, I highly recommend either our full day, sunrise to sunset, or multi-day elopement packages. When deciding which Maui elopement package to choose, one of the biggest things I tell couples to consider is how much adventure you want to experience and how many different landscapes you want to go explore.

Our full-day Maui elopement package, includes first look photos at your cabin in the early afternoon. We will then head out to two unique locations for you and your partner to explore. After, we will head to your ceremony location, where you will elope in the mountains with the most stunning backdrop at sunset!

The second Maui elopement package we offer is our sunrise to sunset package. This is one of our most popular elopement packages booked by our couples and here’s why: when booking a sunrise to sunset elopement, you are going to have golden hour and blue hour at BOTH sunrise and sunset! This means you are going to get the best light on your day (twice!!) and get to experience multiple locations.

The last elopement package option is our multi-day elopement package. I recommend choosing this option especially if you plan to have friends and family at your Maui elopement. The multi-day package can be a really good option if you want to explore a location, spend time with family and friends, have a celebratory meal with them, have your ceremony, and then go explore a completely different landscape on another day with just the two of you. Maui is full of so many different landscapes, so by having a multi-day elopement, you’re able to explore more than just one location.
