Snoqualmie National Forest Engagement Session
Before I can share specifics about this dreamy Snoqualmie National Forest engagement session, I have to brag on the couples I get to work with! I am fully convinced that I have met and continue to meet the coolest humans on planet Earth. Seriously! I feel so lucky every single day that I get to do what I do. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to join you on your adventures.
Okay! Now I can share the story of one of those incredible couples I was just talking about. I first met Adri and Andrew in Seattle for pizza in Capitol Hill (they knew my love language of food!). Instantly, I knew this couple was so rad. They taught be all about music festivals and shared more about their story. I was instantly their biggest fan, and was so grateful that they wanted me to photograph their Snoqualmie National Forest engagement session and wedding day next summer.
I met up with Adri and Andrew at the trailhead (snacks ready to go!) in Snoqualmie National Forest, and we headed into the woods. I love taking photos under the forest canopy during golden hour because there are pockets of radiant sunlight that peak through to the forest floor. Adri’s dress was made with gorgeous material that caught the sunlight and moved so fluidly with the wind.
What to Wear for Your Engagement Photos
Did you know fabric-types and colors can really impact how your outfit with photograph during your engagement photos? Let me tell you, I definitely was out-of-the-loop of that little fact during my senior pictures (praises for that post-high school glow up, am I right?). So, let me help you know exactly what to wear for your adventure engagement photos! First, let’s talk about fabric. You don’t want to wear anything that is too heavy. Adri’s dress moved so beautifully because the fabric wasn’t too thick or weighed down. Next, for the color: earth tones for the win! When you’re taking photos in nature, it’s best to choose colors that will compliment the nature around you. Andrews cool, stone-colored outfit was such a perfect compliment to Adri’s warm, sunset-like mauve dress. When in doubt about what to wear, I am happy to help you out as your photographer!
After we made our way through the forest, we found the waterfall at the end of the rainbow (no, literally; there was a rainbow at the waterfall!). This 70-foot waterfall was showing off for Adri and Andrew, and they were such troopers about how intense the waterfall was this day. My number one priority as an adventure elopement photographer is to make sure my couples feel comfortable, safe and confident during their photos. So, I’m always sure to listen to my couples’ needs and what they’re envisioning for their adventurous engagement session.
Your Adventure Elopement Photographer from Engagement to Wedding Day
I pinch myself every time I get the honor of capturing a couple during their season of engagement and again on their wedding day! It is such a surreal, full-circle feeling for me. Our adventures during their engagement photos truly do make the wedding day so special, and I can see the level of comfort and trust they have in me as they stand in front of my camera again on their big day. Okay, I’m getting weepy again just thinking about how honored I am to have this job. Andrew had mentioned that he wanted engagement photos at an overlook in Snoqualmie National Forest. So, I location scouted prior to our session, and found this stunning view. We caught the sun just as it was dipping behind the mountains. One of my favorite things about Snoqualmie National Forest is the wide range of landscapes you can find. Whether it’s a mountaintop overlook, moody forest floor, serene alpine lake or rushing waterfall, this Washington gem-of-a-forest has it all.
I also love getting to experience multiple landscapes and backdrops during engagement sessions with my couples. The time spent hiking and exploring to and from these settings provides an amazing opportunity for me to get to know more about my clients. Now, when I get to photograph Adri and Andrew’s wedding in Summer 2020 (already counting down!), it will feel like I’m getting to see old friends again!
Are you engaged? Congratulations! Are you looking for an elopement photographer? It’s nice to meet you! Reach out and let’s meet for pizza to talk about the rad adventure we could plan for your engagement photos and epic elopement.
